These toggles come in pairs.
THEBrandenburgs6.5 cm have 5 pretty loops, and consist of a button formed by the knot and the strap. The strap is attached around the knot.
Place the toggles on either side of the garment. You will need to sew the first part of the toggles: the closure part. It must be sewn onto the outside of your jacket. You can pin it to make it easier and to keep the fabrics in place. Then proceed to sew, using our BOHIN needles of course! And an invisible or tone-on-tone thread, which you can also find in our online haberdashery. Then you will need to sew the other part of the toggles in the same way, making sure that the two buttons are positioned opposite each other. For hand sewing, here's how to proceed:
Pass the thread over the entire width of the toggles and so on until you have gone all the way around it, or lightly stitch on the edge of the cord for a more discreet job. A thimble or the 3-in-1 needle puller will be very useful.
Sew on a Brandenburg button with a sewing machine
Select the tightest possible zigzag stitch (satin stitch, or straight buttonhole stitch). To follow the curve of the toggle, raise your machine's presser foot, readjust according to the curve, then lower the presser foot to follow the curve. Remember to select the correct machine needle for the fabric you are working with. Our online haberdashery offers a wide selection.
