The darning needle is a longer sewing needle with a longer eye that allows you to thread several threads, including woolen yarn frequently used for darning, such as woolen socks.
Darning is a technique that involves filling a hole in a garment. This filling is done to weave a fabric into the hole rather than closing it. Indeed, if there is a hole, it is because the container is not suitable for the contents. For a tear, you can close the fabric edge to edge, in the case of a hole, darning is recommended. If you close a hole made due to pressure, as we know well the holes in the toes of tights or socks, it will reopen. Whereas with the darning technique, your repair will be durable.
