The thimble is a handy little sewing accessory that is usually attached to the middle or ring finger. Ideal for pushing the needle through the fabric without risk of injury. The traditional thimble is very useful for pushing the needle through different layers of fabric or for upholstery work. The notch on the side allows the needle to be pushed sideways. The spiking on the outside prevents the needle from slipping.
