Sewing tutorial: the fabric bookmark, an easy project!

Whether for yourself or as a gift, the fabric bookmark is the perfect quick project that allows you to use up your small fabric leftovers. Easy and fast to make, it’s the ideal gift that is simple, personalized, and eco-friendly.

The ideal upcycling project

If you're often on the lookout for small creative projects to reuse your tiniest fabric leftovers, this bookmark is perfect for you! Through upcycling, you give new life to fabric pieces that might otherwise be discarded. This project lets you make the most of every square centimeter of fabric, fitting seamlessly into an eco-conscious and creative approach. By mixing patterns and colors, you can achieve results that are as unique as they are original.

Materials needed

  • A sewing machine and BOHIN universal needles, sizes 70 or 80 depending on the fabric chosen
  • A pair of BOHIN scissors that ONLY cut fabric
  • A BOHIN marking pencil
  • BOHIN pins or magic clips

Fabric recommendations

For this project, we recommend using lightweight fabrics (less than 110g/m²). The great thing about this project is that it requires very little fabric, making it the perfect opportunity to use your leftovers! To create your bookmark, you’ll only need three fabric squares measuring 6x6 cm. You can use the same fabric for all or mix different ones for a unique result.
